This pack of lectures provides an overview of healthcare systems in Spain, Europe and the USA. It offers a valuable outlook on how history has shaped the different healthcare systems in these regions, it covers the current main providers and their roles, it studies how they are funded and how the healthcare systems allocate resources, and finally discusses hospital organization. These sessions will allow you to become familiar with the main trends and challenges facing health systems today, as well as the current organizational responses to address them.

Healthcare Systems & Economics
This session includes a wide description of different kinds of healthcare systems all over Europe, as well as information about the socio-economic framework and healthcare macro-management. It explores in depth the Spanish healthcare system and the policies of the Spanish Sistema Nacional de Salud.
Private healthcare insurances
The objective of this session is to give attendees a clear understanding of the insurance sector, by taking an in-depth look at the Spanish market. It includes a description of the types of insurance policies around the world and the organization of the insurance market in Spain: the main players, distribution channels, processes, value chain, etc. all supported by up-to-date market data.
Health & Disease in the Developing World
The goal of this lecture is to discuss the complex interplay of factors that contribute to poor health outcomes in these regions, including poverty, limited access to healthcare, inadequate infrastructure, and political instability. You will also explore the role of international aid and cooperation in addressing these challenges, highlighting both the successes and failures of past efforts. Overall, this lecture is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in global health and development to gain a deeper understanding of the issues at play and to learn from a leading expert in the field.

To withdraw from a session you must send an e-mail to: aalbacete@biocat.cat. If cancellation is received more than one week (7 working days) before the date of the Short Program session, you will be reimbursed for 100% of the registration fee. If cancellation is received during the week prior to the date of the lesson, you will be reimbursed for 50% of the registration fee. If no notice is given, participants will not be reimbursed even if they do not attend the session.
